COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

INTRO

Our aim at The Cliffside is to provide a place where guests can come, stay and leave all their everyday stresses and worries behind. It is a place where you are welcomed with warmth, treated with care, and allowed to experience some of the best views and spaces of Johannesburg.

This is why we have implemented strict COVID-19 protocols and operating procedures throughout our property; to take some of the stress out of traveling during this unprecedented time.

With a focus on keeping our valued guests and staff safe, these protocols are regularly updated according to Government & World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.

While a lot continues to change in our lives, we will continue to provide a sanctuary in the heart of Johannesburg.

The following protocols are mandatory, for both staff & guests, and will be strictly adhered to:

GUESTS

  • All guests will be screened on arrival at The Cliffside. This is done in an effort to prevent potentially infected persons from entering the property.  The screening process involves:
    • Completing and signing a questionnaire.
    • Presenting a valid form of photo ID.
    • A temperature check with a thermal scanner on arrival, and every time they re-enter the property.
      • A temperature reading within the normal range will allow the guest to sanitise their hands and continue to check-in.
      • If a guest temperature exceeds 37.5°c, and/ or they are presenting symptoms of the virus, they will not be allowed to check-in and will be directed to the nearest healthcare facility.
  • Guest luggage will be sanitised after screening, before proceeding to the allocated room.
  • Guests will be required to maintain a distance of at least 1.5m from other people in public areas.
  • The wearing of masks is mandatory in all public areas of the property. Masks may be removed while in the privacy of the guests room.
  • Hand sanitisers will be provided in all guest rooms and public areas.

STAFF

  • All staff members are subject to screening processes at the beginning of each shift.
  • The wearing of masks is mandatory for all staff members at all times. They will be provided with sanitises to ensure they can wash/ sanitise their hands regularly.
  • We will continue to make sure that all staff members understand the virus and how it is transmitted, with regard to the safety of guests and staff alike.
  • Staff members will get regular updates on the best practices regarding COVID-19 and hygiene, as outlined by Government and WHO guidelines.

FOOD SERVICE

  • All produce will be sanitised in a receiving area upon delivery and before entering the building.
  • Unfortunately there will be no cold buffet available for breakfast. Instead, guests can order individually packaged servings from the buffet selection.
  • All kitchen and dining surfaces, and equipment, will be regularly sanitised.

HOUSEKEEPING PROCEDURES

PUBLIC AREAS

  • Guests and staff will be required to maintain a distance of at least 1.5m from other people, unless they are in the same booking group. Fortunately, our property has an abundance of small, secluded areas where guests can keep their distance while enjoying their environment.
  • All public areas and high touch points throughout the property will be sanitised regularly, and diligently.
  • The use of the sauna will be subject to bookings, to ensure the space can be sanitised  after each guest.
  • Guests will have access to a digital library of magazines and newspapers to minimise contact.

GUEST ROOMS

  • All surfaces will be sanitised regularly and diligently to ensure rooms are safe for guest arrivals.
  • Housekeepers are required to wear masks at all times when cleaning guest rooms, and may not enter rooms when guests are present.
  • Turndown services will be available by request only.
  • Any non-essential items will be removed from rooms in an effort to reduce the risk of contamination (eg. blankets, magazines, throws), but they will be available to guests on request.
